Sri Maan 108 Sant Baba Basant Singh Ji succeeded Sant Baba Harnam Singh Ji as the head Sant and it was they who established the Ashram of Nirmal Kutia Johal in the early twentieth century.

The purpose of the Kutia is to provide a place for the study and promotion of Sikhism, with particular emphasis on Naam Japna (contemplating on the name of God), Rehat Maryada (code of practice) and the importance of Amrit (baptism).
